The Golf GTI Mk6 is listed for 2010–2012 on our product chart — a shorter window than a standard Mk6. The dash opening is the Mk6 family, but tartan seats and a GTI badge do not change the radio-shape rule. If your GTI is a 2013 car, treat fitment as unconfirmed on this page and send a photo.
Both radios include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a CANBUS decoder. They replace the factory radio. They are not add-on modules.
Why upgrade a Golf GTI Mk6?
A Mk6 GTI already has the right steering wheel, seats and exhaust note. The factory screen is what lets the interior down on a Sunday drive or a commute. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto add maps and music without a cable across the centre console, and a 9-inch option makes the GTI dash look closer to a newer Golf.

Product options
These are the two existing LJ Automotive radios, not new products. RAM is working memory. More RAM generally helps the radio keep maps, music and other apps open together. We do not promise a specific speed or frame rate.
4GB RAM / 64GB
The usual middle choice. On the 7-inch radio the 4GB options include a reverse camera. On the 9-inch radio 4GB is sold with or without a camera.
6GB RAM / 128GB
The highest option we sell. Both radios include a reverse camera on the 6GB variants. Choose this if you want more working memory and storage.
USB-C versus Dual USB
On the 7-inch radio you can pick Dual USB or USB-C + USB. That is about the physical ports, not CarPlay. Phone linking is wireless on both radios.

Standard Mk6, R, Cabriolet and Variant are listed separately. Do not assume a later GTI facelift radio is identical.
Installation considerations
- Listed years stop at 2012. We will not pretend a 2013 GTI is verified here.
- Some GTIs left the factory with a higher-spec RNS unit. The opening still has to match the product photos.
- The Mk6 install video shows a standard hatch radio swap, not a GTI-specific trim teardown.

Installing in a Golf GTI Mk6
The radio comes out the same way as a regular Mk6: unclip the surround, undo the bolts, swap the harness. The linked tutorial is a third-party Mk6 hatch video, not a GTI film. GTI climate and extra switches stay in the car.

Wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and CANBUS
Both radios support wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. You do not need a USB cable to connect your phone.
CANBUS is included. GTI steering-wheel controls can work after the correct model is selected. We do not claim GTI-specific driving modes or factory performance menus will appear on the new radio.
Reverse camera options
Not every option includes a camera. The aftermarket camera supplied with camera options is compatible with the radio it comes with.
We cannot guarantee that a factory reverse camera or parking sensors will work on the new radio. Fitting a camera may involve working with your car's wiring. If you are not confident, use a qualified mechanic or auto electrician.
Golf GTI Mk6 questions
Why is the GTI listed only to 2012?
That is the year range on our product compatibility chart. A 2013 GTI needs a photo check rather than an automatic yes.
Does wireless CarPlay work in a GTI?
Yes. The radios support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GTI engine or DSG does not change that.
Will GTI steering-wheel buttons work?
They can on factory-equipped cars once CANBUS is set. We do not guarantee every extra GTI button or menu.
Should I pick 6GB RAM?
If you keep maps, music and other apps open together, 6GB / 128GB is the smoothest option we sell. 4GB is the usual middle choice. 2GB is the budget option and has no camera on the 7-inch radio.
Is a reverse camera included?
Only on camera variants. A GTI with factory parking sensors may still need the aftermarket camera if you want a picture.
